headspace Workshop – headspace Batemans Bay and headspace Narooma

Published:19th June 2026

What an incredible day delivering Yilabara’s Aboriginal Cultural Safety Training to the amazing team at headspace Batemans Bay and headspace Narooma!

This workshop was facilitated by Mark Richards.  Mark led the session in a welcoming, conversational “yarn” style, creating a safe and open space for learning and reflection.

The U-shape setup encouraged connection, allowing everyone to engage deeply in discussions around what cultural safety truly means in practice.

Throughout the workshop, participants shared thoughtful insights and asked meaningful, in-depth questions. The energy in the room was genuine, respectful, and inspiring — a true reflection of headspace’s commitment to culturally safe care.

Feedback from participants included:

  • Mark was a fantastic facilitator and made me feel very safe in the training.  I enjoyed how he added personal stories to build knowledge into First Nations culture and shared this with us.”
  • Best cultural training I have attended to date.  The trainer was knowledgeable, insightful, and engaging. “
  • Great.  Excellent to learn through firsthand knowledge from a warm and compassionate facilitator.”
  • Much more engaging and informative than online training modules – facilitators were awesome and I really enjoyed learning more and connecting with the team in this face-to-face way.”
  • The best cultural competency training I’ve ever attended.  Understanding kinship, family systems was a key highlight, but Mark’s ability to engage our group made the experience worthwhile.”

👏 A huge thank you to the headspace team for their openness, engagement, and willingness to learn.

We’re proud to support organisations on their journey toward stronger understanding, respect, and culturally safe practices.
