Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) is a new specialist disability employment program. It offers tailored support services for people with disability, injury or health conditions to find and maintain work and grow their career.

Disability is an issue that affects our Aboriginal Communities but is rarely acknowledged or discussed.

Aboriginal people are 2.5 times as likely as non-Aboriginal people to have a severe or profound disability. In 2019, 38% of Indigenous Australians were living with a disability and 8.1% had a severe or profound disability. Disability can affect participation in education and in the labour force. In 2019, 26% of First Nations people aged 15–64 with severe or profound disability were employed. (ABS 2019b).

How we will support community members with disability:

We will work with you to create your personalised plan. Everyone’s path is different.

  • Access Indigenous Inclusive Employment Australia Services.
  • Take the time to understand you
  • Identify your personal goals and needs.
  • Identify barriers to employment and how we can work together to address these.
  • Identify relevant tasks, activities, and training to support employment goals.
  • Identify suitable employers, and facilitate job matching with relevant supports
  • Assist with workplace adjustments to suit your needs.
  • Support you, even if you can only work a few hours a week.

To support Inclusive Employment Australia Participants and help to meet Employer’s workforce needs, Yilabara will engage with, build strong relationships with, support, and provide services to, Employers in their local area.

How we support employers

  • Assistance with job design or job customisation.
  • Offer tailored support and training to build Employer capability
  • Help Employers to provide suitable, safe and productive workplaces and work practices for employees with disability.
  • Access available supports. Including organising workplace modifications, workplace training, or on the job coaching and supports, or Wage Subsidies

Inclusive Employment Australia Locations

Yilabara delivers Indigenous IEA services across Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Eurobodalla regions. With Offices in Wollongong, Dapto, Shellharbour, Nowra, Batemans Bay, Wreck Bay, Narooma and Moruya

Who is eligible for IEA

To be eligible to receive services, you must:

  • have a disability, injury, or health condition
  • be between 14 and 67 years of age
  • be an Australian resident
  • not be studying full-time
  • not be working at or above your assessed work capacity.

You do not need to be receiving an Income support Payment to access support under Inclusive Employment Australia.
