What is Workforce Australia

Workforce Australia is the employment service delivered by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. Workforce Australia includes an online service and a network of providers contracted to provide personalised support to job seekers. Workforce Australia helps Australians find and keep a job, change jobs, or create their own job.

Employer Demand Driven Model

Yilabara’s Participant Journey Model is strengths-based and designed to empower job seekers through integrated support and a personalised plan.

Engagement

Yilabara has a dedicated Industry Engagement Officer responsible for establishing and managing partnerships with local and regional employers, and matching the right job seeker to the right job. Yilabara actively assesses an employer’s hiring needs and provides support with candidate vetting, resume and interview support, training assistance, wage subsidies, and decision-making. Our focus is on successfully building an employer’s Aboriginal workforce profile.

Enablement

Yilabara offers local and regional employers a quality service that goes beyond engagement to a partnership designed to bring life to employers’ corporate social responsibility, reconciliation action plans and diversity inclusion strategies. We achieve this through ongoing support including building workplace cultural safety, procurement policies and end-to-end recruitment.

Collaboration

Yilabara’s Workforce Australia team has access to a wide network of social and other support services designed to match the needs of Aboriginal job seekers including health, welfare and employability. We collaborate with local employers, training and other organisations to build and implement workforce development and recruitment strategies focussed on local and regional priorities.

Participant Journey Model

Yilabara’s Participant Journey Model that is flexible offering a strength-based approach empowering Jobseekers that includes integrated support and personalised plan.

Guidance and Exploration

Yilabara explores job seekers strengths, career options and interests to jointly build a job plan that is realistic and achievable. Offering intensive support including understanding work readiness levels.

Work Preparation

Yilabara supports job seekers to become job ready through employer expos, meeting with community leaders, and understanding work sites. We job seekers to connect and engage in virtual and in-person counselling and support services where required, and work with family and other community supports to facilitate progress.

Work Opportunities

Yilabara explores job seekers strengths, considering career options, co-designing job plans with goals linked to aspirations. We offer intensive support guided by our assessed understanding work readiness levels.

Post-Placement Support

Yilabara supports all job seekers and their employers to overcome workplace and other challenges and celebrates job seekers successful an ongoing employment. Post placement support starts prior to commencement of a person’s new job through development of an in-work retention plan designed with the new employee and their future employer.

How do I access Yilabara Workforce Australia Services?

If you are on income support with Centrelink such as Parenting Payment, Youth Allowance or Job Seeker you can access Yilabara’s Workforce Australia services. There are a number of ways you can do this:

  • The easiest way to join Yilabara is by simply visiting one of our offices and talking directly to one of our Employment Advisors about how we can support you
  • If you are signing up for income support with Cenrelink make sure you ask them to link you to Yilabara
  • If you have been referred to another Workforce Australia provider you can ask to be transferred to Yilabara
