Yilabara Solutions Opens in 5 New Locations on the South Coast of NSW

After months of preparation, Yilabara Solutions has opened in 5 new locations on the South Coast of NSW.

Yilabara Solutions will be delivering Workforce Australia services to Aboriginal Australians in the Illawarra South Coast region of NSW and can be found in Wollongong, Batemans Bay, Dapto, Nowra and Shellharbour.

Yilabara Solutions is the only Aboriginal-owned organisation delivering an Indigenous specialist contract in the country under Workforce Australia.

CEO, Matthew Clarke said, “We’re incredibly honoured to be given this opportunity. Our goal is to work with local industries and businesses to build their capability to provide culturally safe workplaces for Aboriginal employees, increasing retention rates and filling skills shortages.”

Workforce Australia will now replace the former ‘Job Active’ and is the new approach for employment and skills services delivered by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment.

Operations Manager of Employment Services, Nyssa Murray, said, “Our team has been working around the clock to prepare our service model for Aboriginal job seekers and employers.”

“Our service delivery model focuses on creating supported flexible pathways to move into employment, with progress depending on individual barriers. From our initial yarns offering guidance, exploring skills and career goals, assisting in work preparation activities, creating work opportunities, and dedicated post-placement support. Our approach is to listen, co-design job plans with job seekers, and connect to allied support services where appropriate.”

With 14 new staff members, the team at Yilabara are focusing on building connections with Indigenous job seekers, local community and organisations that are committed to growing their Aboriginal workforce.

Participants can choose from Monday 4 July to Friday 15 July by calling the transition line 1300 854 414 or using their Workforce Australia account. You can find more information at dese.gov.au and jobactive.gov.au
